A History of Proud Innovation

More than 70 years ago P. A. Sturtevant incorporated his torque wrench business. In 1940 Frank Livermont incorporated the Richmont company. Our company holds more than 60 torque related patents along with a string of industry firsts. We’ve been first in product development as well as the first torque tool manufacturer to be ISO 17025 certified and the first torque tool manufacturer to be certified ISO 2001. We are also an A2LA Accredited Calibration Lab.

Mechanics Hall of Fame

Paul Sturtevant was always concerned that engineers and mechanics had the right tools. He was also concerned that those at the top of their craft be recognized for their achievements. In the world of racing the driver gets the money and the glory. The lead mechanic also shoulders the burden for success. The best driver cannot win without a vehicle that gets him or her to the finish line.

ISO Accreditation and Registration

ISO 17025 - SR Achieves ISO 17025 Accreditation from A2LA!

On October 21, 2003, the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation accredited Sturtevant Richmont to ISO/IEC 17025-1999 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994 in the field of calibration. This accreditation was renewed in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and again in 2013. The current accreditation is valid through June 15, 2015.

This official recognition of our competence in calibrating torque wrenches, torque screwdrivers, and torque testers is in addition to our ISO 9001 Registration.

Technical excellence and very high levels of design and manufacturing competence have long been Sturtevant Richmont strengths. They are two of the key reasons that so many automotive, aerospace, electronics, and off-road OEMS rely on Sturtevant Richmont torque products in their assembly, auditing and calibration operations.

Whether your need is for the most basic torque wrench or the most sophisticated of integrated torque application systems, for the plant floor or the calibration laboratory, if it involves torque, Sturtevant Richmont is the answer!

Factory Services

We offer our customers a variety of services related to S/R products, including:

Torque Wrench Calibration

Every torque wrench needs to be recalibrated - some frequently, some infrequently - but they all need it. A variety of our customers find that obtaining calibration service from S/R for some or all of their tools is an operational and economic advantage. All calibration is performed in out ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited Calibration Laboratory, and the certifications contain all test results and all traceability information for each tool.

Torque Tester Calibration

All torque testers and their associated transducers need to be recalibrated at intervals that assure their accuracy. For many of our customers it is advantageous to have them calibrated in and certified by our ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited Calibration Laboratory. The certifications contain all test results and all traceability information for each transducer and tester.

It makes good business to have your tools calibrated by an A2LA Reference Lab. The A2LA reference labs are the best of the best.

  • We are an A2LA Reference Lab. The A2LA Reference Labs validate test results from A2LA labs.
  • We are also an A2LA Pivot Lab, which means we validate the results and accuracy from the A2LA Reference Labs.

These accreditations mean you can have the utmost confidence in the work we produce and the impact it has on your operation. https://www.a2la.org/

Torque Wrench Parts and Repair

As durable as our torque wrenches are, there are times and circumstances under which repair is needed. For some organizations repairing and calibrating such tools internally is within their expertise and economically advantageous. For other organizations it is better to obtain the repair and recalibration service from the factory.

Parts and repair may be ordered through your S/R Distributor, or you may contact the factory directly to discuss your needs.

Torque Tester Parts and Repair

Testers rarely need repair, but when they do it is most often beyond the capabilities of the organization that uses them. For those who are capable of repairing and recalibrating their torque testers, parts are available through your S/R Distributor or by contacting us directly. For those who do not have the expertise, equipment or both to perform the needed repair and recalibration, those services are available from the factory. Simply contact your S/R Distributor or contact us directly.

Factory Training
Some torque tools and torque testers are easy to learn to use effectively, and some are more difficult. Advanced torque systems require specialized expertise that is not always available internally.

Whether your need is to have a group of people taught the basics of torque and torque tools, or assistance in programming some of our advanced systems, we can support your efforts. Simply contact your S/R Distributor, your S/R Representative or contact us directly to discuss your needs and the means by which we can help you attain your goals.
